Breast Reduction Surgery

Medically termed "reduction mammaplasty," this procedure is performed in order to remove excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin. Dr. Mendieta will also lift the areola (nipple) and reduce its size to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. In many cases, a reduction is often combined with a breast lift ("mastopexy"). Depending on the technique used, scars can be minimized when made around the areola or extending vertically and then horizontally on the breast. The most common incision is the anchor shape, which allows for additional skin and tissue to be removed.
